My little boy loves the water--so today in the 95 degree weather, I went outside, hooked him up a water hose, and let him play. He washed daddy's truck and tried to wash mommy and her camera, thankfully unsuccessfully! I got him these boots today at Target and he loves them, he liked filling them up with water and letting the water slosh as he walked around. Oh I hate that my little boy is growing up so fast.

Congratulations, Class of 2009 {Fayetteville NC Senior Photography}

When I was in Kindergarten, they posed us for the paper because we were the "Class of 2000". That seems like ages ago, and now it is 2009! Mr. J is coming up ready to graduate. I can remember my dad putting him in a pillowcase (and not a BIG pillowcase, it was a motel pillowcase) and flinging him in circles. He was so tiny, he couldn't even ride the rollercoasters, but he rode the bungee jump ride when my little brother, older than he is, was too scared. He was a fearless little tiny thing, and now he is graduating! I feel so old!

He'll hate me for putting this one up...

Wow, two Aidan posts back to back! Well I haven't done that in a while, so here is more of my beautiful baby boy. He's been sitting still for me lately and letting me get some extreme close ups. Aidan's eyes are one of his best features. They are two different colors. Of course his best feature is his sweet personality, but these eyes come in to a close second, and get him everything he wants. How can you say no?

Aidan is my favorite person on earth so I took pictures of him today. I want to pause time and keep him this size forever. He is the sweetest baby I've ever been around--he really and truly is (and I'm not just saying that because he's mine). He isn't whiney, he isn't mean, he isn't loud, and he is so loving. He comes to you and asks you for a "Hug kiss," he's polite and always says "Peese" and "Tink You" and "Yes Meowm" (my personal favorite). You're not allowed to eat without first (and clap your hands together) saying the "Bessing". Every morning I have to make him a "Tar Tar" (pop tart) for breakfast. I could go on and on about him, but instead I'll just post some new pictures. Ignore the bandaids, this is his new obsession. Each day he picks where his imaginary boo-boo's are.

I have been waiting and waiting for mud puddle pictures since before Aidan could even walk. I bought the perfect raincoat nearly a year ago, waiting for him to fit in it. Then I waited for that perfect day. Today was the day and guess what? My little man was NOT into puddles. He's a neat freak, he hates his hands dirty and he does not like mud. So when I wanted him to stomp, he stood as still as possible so that no mud would get on him. I had visions of bringing in a muddy baby to bathe, but I got dirtier taking the pictures than he got in the puddle.

Wow two personal blogs back to back. I am so behind on editing guys, I am TEN sessions behind! I have posted a few of them up and others are coming up soon, I promise! I am doing the 365 challenge this year, and I hope I can stick to it. For those who don't know, this is a challege to take one picture every day. Most people do a self portrait but I hate those so I am doing just one random picture per day. Yesterday I took Aidan out on the golf cart for a few pictures and I took this of my house. The tractor was put there by my daddy long ago. The house has changed somewhat from when daddy was here. It looks so beautiful from back here.

Addiction

I am a proud member of clickinmoms (go join! clickinmoms.com) and our photography challenge this week was "Addiction". Each week the challenge is one word, and we have all week to interpret that word. My first thought when it came to addiction was not MY addiction (Starbucks Mocha Frappucino no whip and blueberry coffee cake) but it was the way that addiction has affected me. I lost my dad, the greatest dad and man on earth to addiction. I'll never forget the day I got the call that he was no longer with us. I remember driving there way over the speedlimit, praying to God, and just thinking it was all just a dream and I would wake up soon. I am proud to say that the last thing I told him on the phone was that I loved him...and anyone who knows me knows that it isn't something I say often. I just had a feeling all week that this was going to happen. He was a wonderful person, and not a day goes by that I don't cry for him.

Aidan's going on TWO

Can you believe it? It seems like just yesterday I was complaining that I was "ready to have this baby now" and then that is just what happened. It was a Tuesday night, and that day I worked with a coworker at a construction site walking around piles of dirt for hours, never complaining because I'd only been working a month, but in so much pain my eyes burned. That night I woke up in the middle of the night crying with pains in my upper abdomen, and I knew that couldn't be labor right? I have a high pain tolerance, but it got to wear I was just sitting on the bed sobbing. I got up, got on webmd and searched what that pain may be. I learned that that pain was HELLP - Hemolysis Elevated Liver Enzymes & Low Palate Count - my liver was exploding. It was swelling, stretching the capsule that contains it, and my blood cells were being destroyed. I couldn't see, my vision was gone. So I finally got up at 2am and woke up my husband. I told him it was definately an emergency, so we got in the car and rode to the hospital, not telling anyone in the family. I thought maybe I would just get to go home.

So I was admitted into a room full of women who were in labor. They took my urine and stipped me of my clothes, then took my blood pressure. The woman said the cuff was broken so she returned with another. That cuff didn't work either, so she brought in a manual cuff. She took my blood pressure another two times. Then she walked out calmly. A minute later I had a team of nurses running with my bed, throwing papers in my lap to sign. In a whirl, I caught "Emergency C-Section" and "Siezure" and "Blood pressure is near 300/190". They put me in the big labor and delivery room, the one that I know you don't get unless you are going to have a baby. I have never been more scared in my life.

Then, three nurses begin putting IV's in my arms and hands. I was so swollen they could barely find a vein. They started pumping me full of this aweful medicine - Magnesium Sulfate - that would control my blood pressure. I had to be given a catheter, which was horrible. After that, I dont' remember much, the magnesium kinda puts you out. They gave me a shot of steriods, to develop the baby's lungs as much as possible, and prayed that I could make it the 6 hours for the steroids to take effect.

True to their word, six hours later, I was given another sonogram. The doctor said the baby weighed between 2 and 3 pounds, and had a good chance of survival. If I didn't have him today, we could both die. So they took me back for a C-section at 10:00. We finally called some family members, to tell them the news. Aidan was coming early -- 3 months too soon.

When I awoke from recovery, the neonatologist told me that the baby was a lot smaller than they thought. Rather than 29 weeks, as I had thought, the baby was more along the lines of a 26 weeker. He was alive, that was the most important thing to me.

I guess I was just so scared that I didn't want to see him. Several of my family saw him before I ever laid eyes on him. I thought maybe if I never saw him, it wouldn't hurt so much if he didn't live. I did go look at him almost 2 days after his birth, when I was finally allowed to get off the bed. That was the scariest thing I ever saw. He was so tiny, you could hold him in one hand. We took our wedding rings off and slid them up his arm. His foot was the size of the last bend of my finger. His head could be held between two fingers. His skin was translucent, you could see his heart beeting. He had tubes everywhere.

Can you believe that my one pound baby was on a ventilator for only 3 days? He was on a cpap for 4 days. He had NO brain bleeds. He only had 3 blood transfusions. He gained weight every single day in NICU (after he lost that first 6 ounces) and only ONE day he didn't gain-he stayed the same. He was only in NICU for 63 days, coming home well before his due date! What a strong little boy!

Now look at him, into everything. He is so sweet, so well behaved. He is funny, smart, and creative. Can you believe he does imaginary play with his people and he's not even 2? Other than taking his sweet time to walk, he is absolutely perfect.

There is no miracle like my Aidan. Aidan makes me believe in miracles, he makes me believe in God. I had never wanted anything in my life more than I wanted him. I have never prayed for anything the way I prayed for my tiny boy. And if I can never have children again, I was blessed with the best child of all.

But if you hand me a group of adults, I do NOT know what to do with them. Snow Day!

I just love the snow! And one of the great things about living in NC, when it snows, you get out of work! I got to spend the day with my sick boy. Aidan was really too sick to play in the snow, but I wanted just a few snaps, so we had to tredge outside with him.

This is my second Miss A from the weekend. I was in need of newborn pictures for the portfolio, so Miss A's mom came to help me out. What a gorgeous newborn! She has the most gorgeous skin, there wasn't even any touchups needed for those newborn blemishes! It took a while for Miss A to get to sleep good, but when she did, she posed great for me!

Back from Vacation

At the very last minute, Josh and I decided to pack up and go to the Bahamas and to Tampa for our vacation. Its very rare that we both have so much time off at the same time, so we took advantage of it. We went on a Carnival Cruise (the Destiny, not the Sensation that someone jumped/fell off of) and went to Nassau, Half Moon Cay, and Grand Turk. The weather was wonderful and Aidan was so well behaved--we even got a ton of compliments on how well behaved he was. His favorite part of the cruise--the mascot Freddie Fun Ship. Aidan had a fit over him! He would scream anytime we tried to take him out of his lap. So all the other parents probably hated us--their kids picture also has Aidan in it :)

I hope you all had a very merry Christmas! Here is a little blog-it of Aidan's christmas. He got lots of little toys, but he mainly got a new swingset and a playhouse. He loves them both! We are leaving on Monday morning at 4am to go on a 5 day cruise to the Bahamas! This was our other christmas present (well I'm paying for it, so I guess its not "my" present). Noah is 7 Months old!

If you haven't noticed, or read my blog much, I have been following Noah from birth. His mommy is nice enough to have let me practice on the little guy for 7 months now! I like to *think* I have been getting better each month. One thing is for sure though, Noah gets cuter each month!

This is one of my very favorite ages to photograph. I LOVE newborns, and would love to get my hands on a few more (someone get pregnant!) but other than that, 7-8 months old is the best! They can sit up, don't leave where you put them, push up (one of my favorite poses) and they have a great sense of humor.

One day when Aidan is all grown he's going to realize what a gorgeous little friend Daisy is. Seriously, there is no baby girl cuter on earth that this one. With those eyes and eyelashes, and that adorable button nose and cheeks that make you just want to pinch! I told her mommy that the only thing I don't love about taking Ms. Daisy's pictures--I have a hard time narrowing them down!

Every year the maple tree at this house is the most beautiful tree for about 5 days. The leaves change so fast, then quickly fall to the ground. Every year I swear I am going to take pictures and I never make it in time. This year, Mr.Aidan helped me out!

Someone slow this baby down! I can't believe I'm taking his 5 month pictures. it seems like just yesterday I was trying to work around his vigorous feeding schedule (which hasn't changed lol), his pooping on my fuzzy blanket, and his alertness while I wanted him squishy and asleep. Time flies so fast! Noah is gorgeous, and he's getting curls (obviously my weakness on little boys!). And he is *almost* sitting up! Why do babies have to grow up so fast???

At the Zoo

For my husband's birthday, we decided to spend the day as a family and take Aidan to the zoo for the first time. Aidan wasn't really impressed with most animals--they had to be close up and moving for him to even realize what he was looking at, but I do think he had a good time. Anyone of you who have been to the NC Zoo knows that it is situated with 2 "continents" on each side of a mountain. We parked in North America, then walked up hill toward Africa (that's where the good stuff is!). We reached the top, my legs felt like noodles, and it says "Congratulations! You made it! Now its down hill the rest of the way!" Well that just happens to be where Josh decided we should ride, we were tired. So we ride to Africa and have to walk UP HILL to go to each exibit!!! So I went to the zoo, and walked uphill both ways! And I must say that the gorillas and the chimps made the trip worthwile. The gorilla munched on his boogers, and it was chimp mating season :)

This adorable little man is the love of my life. I have never seen a baby with such a funny and sweet personality, and he is more gorgeous than any child of my dreams. I love him more than I even thought was ever possible, even when he won't look at me and smile :)
